Congratulations Tour du Canada 2020/2021

Signal Hill Tour du Canada 2021

September 3, 2021. Tour du Canada cyclists have arrived safely in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. Tour du Canada 2020/2021 is now complete.

Congratulations to all the riders who participated. It was an especially challenging year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. International borders were closed into Canada and as a result the group was made up entirely of Canadians. All riders were fully vaccinated and complied with the health requirements for entering and travelling in all 10 provinces. Extra protocols were in place across the country and during the tour the cyclists followed health and safety protocols set out in advance of the tour.

There were a number of changes along the way since several campgrounds remained closed entirely or closed to tenting or temporary uses. In some cases services such as showers and shelters were not available. Special applications had to be made to cross borders into several of the provinces as well as special arrangements to cross the bridge into P.E.I. We are grateful to the operators of those agencies and services for their assistance and efforts to keep everyone healthy. And we are especially grateful to the campgrounds and communities who gave us an extra special warm welcome along the way.

It was a challenging time for all due to COVID-19. For Tour du Canada 2020/2021 riders, they were witness to a country dealing with a crisis unmatched in our time.

We will again run the annual cross-Canada ride next year. We will be setting the fees and dates for Tour du Canada 2022 in September / October. We welcome your inquiries: sweep@cyclecanada.com
